Name: Jinxie Tenma
Class: Hex Maniac
Type: Ghost/Psychic
Ability: Kindred Soul
Level: 37
Pokémon Bonded: 34/40
Pokémon Attuned: 5/5 - Dokuro follows Jinxie anyway and is almost never specifically attuned
Abilities:
Starting: Jinxie possesses a passive spiritual sensitivity regarding the Ghost and Psychic types, and can tell if any Pokemon of this type are in the general area by calming her mind and concentrating for a short period of time.
First Evolution: Jinxie now has the ability to imbue her warding charms with actual power mimicking several moves of the Ghost and Psychic types: Curse, Hex, Confusion, and Barrier. Jinxie can use these moves for her own purposes as often as she likes, but is also able to 'store' one move per week in a charm to give to others. Finally, she can activate these moves randomly while sleepwalking as a form of the Sleep Talk ability.
Second Evolution: Upon achieving her second evolution, Jinxie will be able to walk through solid objects as if she were intangible herself like many Ghost type Pokemon are able to do. This will require concentration on her part, so it won't be something she's able to do all the time.
Items: Root Fossil, Water Stone, Dusk Stone, Ghost Cloak, Engine Core, Refrigerator Core, Barrier Charm x7, Hex Charm x6, Confusion Charm x6, Curse Charm x6, Shinigami (male Duskull, Lv 1, Hasty, sturdy body)
Next Week's Levels: Jinxie +2(1), Hitodama +5, Wooster +4, Bonsai +6, Flicker +2, Pixel +5

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Jinxie Tenma
Character Canon: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies
History: Here
AU History:
Jinxie's history in-game won't be too different from her canonical history with the exception of the location change and the absence of the murder case where we meet her in her original canon. She's part of a small enclave of spiritually sensitive Elightened living in their own little somewhat insular community within the city of Union, most of them possessing abilities like Kindred Soul, Child of the Verdant Forest, or Shifter, and possessing a strong affinity for the Ghost, Psychic, and Dark types. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she was raised primarily by her father, who is still alive and acts in a sort of 'village elder' type role to the other people living in her community. Jinxie herself grew up in the company of these sorts of people and their Pokemon companions, and has developed a rather unique outlook on life as a result of her upbringing and the spiritual sensitivity she's had since she was a child. The figure of Tenma Taro has been replaced by vague descriptions of a Honchkrow that have been passed down by oral tradition in her community for as long as any of them can remember, most likely dating back to the time when the Pokemon rose up against their masters. It's unknown why that Pokemon in particular became the subject of fear and awe for Jinxie's ancestors, but no one alive today questions it.
Canon Personality:
Jinxie Tenma is, at her core, a very superstitious person. Her parents were born in Tenma Town and Nine Tales Vale, two relatively remote communities with deep spiritual beliefs centering around yokai. Having grown up in this environment, she attributes nearly everything that happens to her in her daily life to the presence of yokai. If she gets lost at night, it's because a nurikabe turned her around. If she's having trouble sleeping, it's because the azukiarai kept her up all night with the sound of washing azuki beans. She has a yokai-centric explanation for anything mysterious, unexplained, or mildly unfortunate, even going so far as to compare Apollo Justice to a red oni or the judge to Nurarihyon. Her belief in the power and influence of yokai is so strong, in fact, that she often ends up sleepwalking around town acting as though she's possessed when she isn't wearing one of her protective charms.
Her relationship to yokai depends on what she thinks she's dealing with at any given time - her father tells Apollo that Jinxie has been making friends with various colorful characters around the village that bear striking similarities to the descriptions of traditional demons from Japanese folklore, but there are also many types she's deathly afraid of. Chief among these is the demon king, Tenma Taro, who is supposedly sealed away inside a secret chamber in the mansion where the alderman of Nine Tales Vale lives. Her initial reaction is most typically fear until she learns what she's dealing with, though, and when she's extremely distraught she is even prone to hallucinations where everything around looks like a terrifying monster to her.
Naturally, for someone so given over to superstitious behavior, Jinxie has several coping methods that she uses to get by on a daily basis. One is her preoccupation with special warding charms used to protect against yokai or drive them away - she can nearly always be found wearing one on her forehead and carrying around numerous others, each with a different (and usually needlessly specific) purpose. The other is her faith in the Amazing Nine-Tails, a mysterious masked wrestler who showed up in Nine Tales Vale around the time when a municipal merger was rumored to be in the works between that town and Tenma Town. The wrestler took on a sort of mystique and legend of his own around the town, with periodic shows and festivals taking place in which he would banish Tenma Taro back to the darkness and save the townspeople from his evil.
This fascination with the Amazing Nine-Tails leads into one of the rare less yokai-focused facets of Jinxie's personality, which is that she is prone to hero worship - especially heroes of the masked variety. She is an avid fan of wrestling, cheering for her favorites, and applies the same reverence to the sport and the personalities in it as she does to her spiritual life. She knows the names of many of the Amazing Nine Tails' opponents, and speaks very passionately of them, claiming things like 'a wrestler's mask is his life' and 'it would be a great dishonor to have it removed.' She's so dedicated in this regard, in fact, that she refuses to remove the Amazing Nine Tails' mask from Florent L'Belle when she stumbled upon a murder scene in which he was impersonating her father to frame him for the crime.
Finally, because of her sheltered upbringing and willingness to blame every day occurrences on the supernatural, Jinxie can be incredibly naive and easily misled if you know how to word things. She's very willing to shift her personal beliefs around to suit what's convenient or comfortable for her to believe at any given time, and given the presence of village superstitions that are followed without question just because it's tradition, she hasn't really learned to think critically or question things that seem odd. Instead, she tends to accept these sorts of things as a facet of life, and is easily taken in by simple deceptions. For example, her father pretends all throughout his trial that he is possessed by Tenma Taro and even keeps up the charade after he is acquitted just so Jinxie can slap a charm on his head to 'exorcise' him. For Jinxie's part, she both believes that her father was legitimately possessed and that she was the one who drove the demon off in the end with her warding charms.
AU Deviation:
The main personality difference for Jinxie in this game is that she will be markedly less afraid of things that could be called ghosts, yokai, demons, or monsters. Considering that in her original canon, such things were mysterious and mostly superstition, she was able to construct whatever terrifying mythos around them she needed to in order to support her various supernatural explanations for things. In a Pokemon themed world, however, Ghost and Dark type Pokemon are clearly very real things that everyone is familiar with. She'll still be more superstitious than your average person and probably still have some strange customs relating to beliefs about intangibles such as luck or fate, but less inclined to attribute abilities to Pokemon that she knows they don't have. Unknown Pokemon that she hasn't run into before, however, are completely fair game - whereas in her original canon, she had nearly encyclopedic knowledge of every yokai in existence, in this game the realm of the unknown is much larger.
Canon Abilities: None. Jinxie thinks she can see spirits and that her charms do things, but she can't and they don't.
Enlightened Abilities: Jinxie will be aligned with the Ghost and Psychic types, and possess the Kindred Soul Enlightened ability. If possible, for her Enhanced item I would like her to start with a Cleanse Tag as seen here. Jinxie uses a variety of different warding charms in canon to protect herself from demons, and this is the closest analogue item I could find.
As far as abilities she has in relation to her Pokemon types, they're going to break down like this:
Starting: Jinxie will possess a passive spiritual sensitivity regarding the Ghost and Psychic types, and be able to tell if any Pokemon of this type are in the general area by calming her mind and concentrating for a short period of time.
First Evolution: Upon her first evolution, Jinxie will gain the ability to imbue her warding charms with actual power mimicking several moves of the Ghost and Psychic types: Curse, Hex, Confusion, and Barrier. If possible, I'd also like her to be able to use these while sleepwalking as a form of the Sleep Talk ability, though of course per that ability the one she uses would be random.
Second Evolution: Upon achieving her second evolution, Jinxie will be able to walk through solid objects as if she were intangible herself like many Ghost type Pokemon are able to do. This will require concentration on her part, so it won't be something she's able to do all the time.
Starter Pokémon: Duskull
Notes/Special Considerations: If Jinxie's family can have their legends built around the Pokemon Honchkrow in place of Tenma Taro as I've detailed, that's probably the closest analogue the games actually have to a crow demon. If there's something that works better or that you'd rather have me use instead, though (like Darkrai or some other appropriate legendary), I can roll with whatever.
SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)
First-Person: meme thread
Third-Person:
In the small community of spirit mediums and psychics that Jinxie comes from, it's not uncommon to see friendly Ghost Pokemon floating around haunting the streets at night. It's also not uncommon to see Jinxie Tenma herself wandering around in the pitch black with her trusty Duskull, swaying back and forth and muttering strange curses under her breath as if she were possessed. The Duskull treats it almost like a sort of game, floating around her head and waving its tiny arms back and forth.
"Curse youuuuuu... I'll curse you alllll..."
And sometimes, of course, Jinxie wanders blindly into danger while she's caught in her trances. And it's times like that when having a loyal companion who understands you on an instinctive level can come in handy. While Jinxie's busy shambling about casting imaginary curses, Duskull is just as busy stopping her from running headfirst into brick walls, falling down holes, walking straight into un-bonded Pokemon with a chip on their shoulder, and generally looking out for her when she gets turned around.
"Weak, foolish humans... your souls belong to--"
Lucky for Jinxie's Duskull, she's managed to wander her way all the way back home. This could easily have turned into another lap or two around town if not for the fact that Duskull found Jinxie's favorite protective charm lying by her house and slapped it back onto her forehead. She stops mid-sentence, blinking her eyes open and looking around before smiling back at her trusted companion.
"Did you have a busy night, Duskull? You should really stop staying out so late."
Just another night in the life of Jinxie Tenma.
